International Observer_1Dr. Alba Amaya-Burns was invited to be an international observer of the presidential elections in El Salvador on February 2nd. She and other observers from the United States as well as the Organization of American States (OAS) took part in several training sessions on the legal issues of the electoral process in El Salvador.

Dr. Amaya-Burns observed electoral conditions in three different voting places, including the largest venue, the international trade convention center, to a small rural school in the mountains. The elections were remarkably clean and well conducted. The only problem she confronted was a disagreement about how loud political parties could play their campaign music near one of the polling places.
