Dr. Rick RobinsonDr. Rick Robinson, lead instructor for the post graduate professional certificate program in Forensic Vocational Rehabilitation in the BSCH Department, is the editor for “Foundations of Forensic Vocational Rehabilitation.” Copyrighted for 2014, this textbook is published by Springer Publishing Company.

The overarching goal of the textbook is to provide a foundational perspective of the subspecialty area of forensic vocational rehabilitation practice. The book is targeted toward current rehabilitation practitioners as well as graduate and postgraduate students in rehabilitation counseling, rehabilitation psychology, economics, and other allied professionals, such as occupational and physical therapy students, seeking a deeper level of understanding of the foundational aspects of forensic vocational rehabilitation.

Initially conceptualized nearly 3 years ago, this book is the first resource to synthesize the abundance of private sector vocational rehabilitation literature over the past 30-40 years. This text is unique in its exploration of the vocational rehabilitation process from a bio-psychosocial perspective that views disability as a complex and multidimensional construct. The 22 chapter book was developed through the collaboration of twenty-five authors, including BSCH faculty.

“My goal for the book is that it will become the foundational resource textbook for any social science practitioner tasked with evaluating an individual’s work or vocational capacity within a legal setting” said Dr. Robinson.

Dr. Robinson holds a doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Florida. He is nationally certified as a Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC); Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE) and Life Care Planner (CLCP). He is also board certified as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and as a Diplomate of the American Board of Vocational Experts (D-ABVE). In addition, Dr. Robinson is licensed by the State of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
